The NExT Project in a Nutshell Beginning in June 2004, the Ohio Department of Transportation began rebuilding the interchanges at I-270/S.R. 161 and S.R. 161/Sunbury Road. This project includes rebuilding 17 bridges, 18 ramps and 5 miles of highway. The project will take about 3.5 years to complete and will cost approximately $126 million.
Current Long-term Closures
• The loop ramp from Sunbury Road to I-270 northbound is closed for reconstruction. Sunbury Road motorists wishing to access I-270 northbound must use the new SPUI (Single Point Urban Interchange) ramp from Sunbury Road to SR 161 westbound, then merge right once on SR 161 to exit to I-270 northbound. Reconstruction of the ramp from Sunbury Road to I-270 northbound will be completed in spring 2008.
