Work has begun on a project to widen I-71 in Delaware and Morrow Counties. The project adds a third lane in each direction on I-71 from just north of US 36/SR 37 in Delaware County to north of SR 61 in Morrow County.

This year, the focus of the work will be on southbound I-71. Two lanes will be maintained for southbound traffic, but the lanes will be shifted to the outside of the interstate to give crews room to work. Northbound I-71 traffic will be shifted over north of SR 61 so ODOT can complete bridge work over Crall Road in Morrow County.

The $50 million project will widen nine miles of I-71 and is expected to be complete in Fall 2014. (ODOT)

Columbus Crossroads Project Overview and Updates

Project Overview
The Columbus Crossroads Project is the biggest active project in Central ohio. The first phase is the reconstruction of the I-71/670 interchange which is expected to be completed in 2014.

The project will improve safety, reduce congestion and connect neighborhoods. It will add a new travel lane on I-670 and reduce weaving across traffic lanes to exits. Twenty-two new bridges will be built.

Click the thumbnail below for a rendering of the project after it is completed:
